On Wednesday, 31 Jan 2007, Representative Michael M. Honda (CA - 15) introduced a bipartisan resolution before the U.S. House of Representatives. This resolution calls on the government of Japan to formally and unambiguously apologize for and acknowledge full historical responsibility for the brutality that "comfort women" suffered under its Imperial armed forces throughout Asia from the 1930s through the duration of World War II.
For the full text of the resolution and Rep. Honda's introductory speech, please see his website at: http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ca15_honda/COMFORTWOMEN.html
The government of Japan must be working really hard now to destroy the bill. It succeeded in stopping this resolution's predecessor last autumn. We need all the help possible from everyone to have the resolution passed this time!
